INTRODUCING: PYXIS
We are honoured to have pyxis feature as a guest producer on the label. Through her amazing initiatives Headsbass and Beats In Kind, the money she has raised and the work that she has done for different causes and charities is second-to-none. After collaborating with Optivus owner Rid on ‘Ray of Sunshine’, we wanted to put a spotlight on her brilliant work.
pyxis! Tell us about Headsbass and the causes you’ve raised.
Headsbass Volume 15 and our colabur colabril 2020 and retired in 2025, the total raised is just under £20k, in that time the money was donated to nearly 50 mental health charities, including those supporting children, the elderly, the disabled, soldiers with PTSD and other needs, care workers, violence survivors and dads without their children. Nick has been so lovely, offering his track The Weekend to Headsbass Volume 15 and our collab and in 2025 we did Flashlight: DNB Aid For Los Angeles and later that year another Floodlight: DNB Aid For Jamaica, collectively we’ve raised about £30k for those 3 albums.
Why did you start Headsbass?
I had thought of doing Headsbass during Mental Health Week in October 2019, a lot of my friends in the scene were posting about their experiences, but by the time we released Volume 1, we were in lockdown, so it was absolutely perfect!
Why is supporting charitable causes/helping others so important to you?
I find charitable work so cathartic and I’m not just here on this planet to please myself. There is so much evil in the world and there’s nothing worse than seeing people suffer. Using our platform to help others is essential, we can raise awareness and show our love through music.
Why did you want to work with Optivus Music on our mission to support disabled artists in the music industry?
Nick has been so lovely, offering his track The Weekend to Headsbass Volume 15 and our colab Ray of Sunshine was originally one of the tunes on the Jamaica album, I love what Optivus is doing and only happy to be able to give back to Nick’s cause and what is close to his heart.
